Except January and February, most of the months are ideal to explore the island.
We recommend traveling after the first half of March, though, throughout the year.
An offbeat thought is to avoid year ends to beat the crowds!
We recommend staying in the Southern or Eastern parts of the island to get secluded, best experiences.
Staying in the North-Western or Western parts are ideal if you are looking for longer evening outings or want to explore the urban lifestyle of the Mauritians.
Southern and South Western parts of the island are great for a secluded beach vacation, with easy access to Southern tropical nature tours and Whale safaris.

You can pick resorts if you want a hassle free service and honeymoon specialties like a candle light dinner or more. Resorts also have numerous add-on complimentary additions like kayaking, indoor games, customized food preparations etc.
However, if you are looking for similar privacy at a lesser price point, yet are okay to walk 5-10 minutes to a beach, AIRBNBs are for you. There are economical yet luxurious apartment options across the Northern and Western parts of the island.
Most of these do not have any food inclusions, though.

However, you can also rent a car and explore the gorgeous trails around the coasts of the island.
Bike rentals are also gaining popularity, but it maybe a little hotter out there and may not save a lot of bucks for you, while the rides are certainly fun-filled.
Well, that is a myth!
Mauritius has turquoise water beaches along with a lot of greenery around the southern parts of the island.
The island boasts of gorgeous waterfalls, volcanic eruptions leaving sites like 7-coloured earth and 23-coloured earth which are nature's wonders, tea estates, island excursions, cultural and historical tours in the North parts and more.

Typically, we recommend going on a 6 days' vacation to Mauritius.
With 2 days offset by your arrival and departure from the island, you are left with 4 full days in between.
You can spend them with various permutations and combinations of excursions:
1. Exploring the nature and waterfalls in the Southern part of the island including Chamarel, Black Gorges, 23-coloured earth and more.
2. Embarking on a whale watching safari in the morning to spot the whales and dolphins followed by a brief cultural tour of the urban parts of the island.
3. An island tour to Ile Aux Cerfs to explore the nature's best preserved islands and indulge in water adventure sports.
4. Spend a day at leisure making a lazy start, exploring the beaches on your own.
